Each year, a series of questions are placed into the maze to help you navigate the winding paths. We hope that some of the answers are ones that you know, while others make you think “well, I never knew that”. Not only do sunflowers make delicious oil, but they are also beautiful to look at, and everyone loves to have their picture taken in front of a field of sunflowers. We are no strangers to agritourism having run a successful corn maze for 16 years, so we started our Sunflower Festival in 2015 as an event to bring the community onto the farm. We also partnered with Make-A-Wish NH to donate 10% of profits through the event to give back. Sunflowers are just gorgeous – and there’s something so cheerful about their bright yellow petals.

The Corn Maze, which opens September 3 and runs through October 30, features a new design each year and in 2022 will be a praying mantis. (Check out their website to see the awesome past designs). In addition, flashlight night mazes and private maze rentals are available. Today, we grow over 10-acres of sunflowers that we cold-press into unrefined, Non-GMO sunflower oil using traditional extruding methods. We have a refill station at the farm and at all farmer’s markets we attend to reduce waste and encourage recycling. We have created feed rations for our hogs and sheep, and are developing a ration for our chickens.

It should be noted, that I abided by the plethora of “No Trespassing” signs that were on the fences and buildings. At no point in time did I climb through or over the fences and gates. All photos were taken through or over fences and gates. Sadly, some of the most interesting buildings were beyond my reach. Since the complex is surrounded by active businesses there was nearly always someone with a short distance of me. I assume one of these persons suspected me of attempting to enter the property as near the end of my time taking photos a police car arrived within the gated area, and spied me.

It is also why there is a firm end date to our festival. Opening day sees upwards of 3500 people attending, with a steady 1000 people each weekday. This year we planted part of our variety garden to bloom during the first three weeks of September for you to enjoy when visiting the corn maze. Our large oilseed sunflowers bloom from the end of July until the beginning of August and are no longer in bloom.
